Martin Svensson (1978) started out as guitarist playing
in all kind of constellations. When he studied at music high school
his interest in classical theory and composition came naturally and
the guitar classes turned into counterpoint studies and so on. After
completing high school Martin studied musicology at Lund University
and took private lessons for Mattias Svensson, which teaches at Gotland
school of Music. Martin studied there between 1998-2000 with teachers
such as Sven-David Sandström, Per Mårtensson and Henrik
Strindberg.
During the years at Gotland school of composition Martin composed
a number of pieces, among them In Su for the Swedish chamber ensemble
Sonanza that has been performed in different festivals for new music.
The orchestra piece I den nya tiden (In the new age) that won first
price in a competition for young composers announced by Umeå
symfoniorekster, and Liquidations written to Gotlands blåsorkster
(concert band) and dancers with choreography by Helena Högberg.
In 2000 Martin began his studies in composition at the Academy of
music in Malmö and finished his Master degree for professor Luca
Francesconi and Kent Olofsson. |
